In April 2008, Aastra Technologies Ltd announced that it had closed an agreement to acquire leading communications manufacturer Ericsson's Enterprise Communication Business, with an approximated total investment of close to $160 million Australian Dollars. 

The acquisition has brought Aastra to the forefront of telecommunications in Western Europe and into a number of other key markets including the Asia Pacific region, Middle East, Africa and South America. Additionally, it has extended Aastra's reach into internet protocol Communication Servers, Unified Communication applications and integrated mobility for businesses of all sizes.
